WHILE MOST JOBS REQUIRE SOME KIND OF TRAINING SO THAT YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING IN THE JOB, AN APPRENTICESHIP IS A JOB THAT INVOLVES LONG TERM FORMAL TRAINING TO GIVE THE APPRENTICE RECOGNISED QUALIFICATIONS THAT FORM THE BASIS OF THEIR CAREER IN THAT PARTICULAR AREA OF WORK.

APPRENTICESHIPS INVOLVE 3 PARTIES 1 - The young person Able to commit to completing the apprenticeship eg 12 months/ 2 years etc – depends on what kind of apprenticeship Willing to learn as they do the job –Eg portfolio building, collecting evidence, exams, attending training in different locations in addition to learning in their job Keen to work within that particular field long term. Meets specific entry requirements

APPRENTICESHIPS INVOLVE 3 PARTIES 2 – The Employer Able to commit to training the apprentice for the complete apprenticeship Able to provide supervision and opportunities for them to learn Be confident that the business needs a new member of staff in the long term and there expense is worthwhile This is why the availability of apprenticeships can vary - it has been looking very good in 2014 :O)
