About Dyslexia known as reading disorder or alexia a learning disability characterized by trouble reading despite a normal intelligence a specific reading disability due to a defect in the brain‘s processing of graphic symbols From congenital 先天 (gene defects) Signs and symptoms

Speech - apart from being slow to learn to speak, the child commonly mispronounces words, finds rhyming extremely challenging, and does not appear to distinguish between different word sounds. Spelling - may not follow a pattern of progression seen in other children. The child may learn how to spell a word today, and completely forget the next day. One word may be spelt in a variety of ways on the same page

Concentration span - children with dyslexia commonly find it hard to concentrate for long, compared to other children. Many adults with dyslexia say this is because after a few minutes of non-stop struggling, the child is mentally exhausted. A higher number of children with dyslexia also have ADHD (attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder), compared to the rest of the population

What are the assistive technologies available for them?

Technology-Nonvisual Desktop Access NVDA a free, open source, portable screen reader for Microsoft Windows Built-in speech synthesizer for English and more than 43 other languages Reporting of textual formatting where available, such as font name and size, style and spelling errors. Support for many refreshable braille displays

Livescribe Smartpen The Livescribe Smartpen will record lectures that you're listening to while you take notes, so you won’t miss any information. You can go back and listen to the recording to fill in any hard-to-clarify areas.

Reading Pens Both of these reading pens have scanning capabilities, but they are designed for reading comprehension. They scan the text, enlarge the font to make it easier to read, read the text out loud, and display syllabic breakdown of the words. The TS has additional features, including games to improve vocabulary, a thesaurus for looking up synonyms, and more.

Note-taking Pens With these pens, you can scan up to 20,000 lines of text. Store the information on the device or transfer it to a word processor where the text can be edited. The InfoScan 2 is a simpler version, used only for text storage or transfer, while the TS and TS Elite have more functions. Both the TS and TS Elite have touch screens for easy navigation to find the stored text, while the TS Elite has text-to- speech capabilities, allowing the scanned text to be read out loud.
