Reality Show – Task 1 You have been asked to help a TV production company create a new exciting reality TV show! In this task you will: Identify and order the stages of the systems lifecycle. Create a mind map to break down project into smaller tasks
Reality Show – Task 1 Work from a brief Many projects start with what is known as a 'brief'. This is a document that tells you what you have to do, and gives you a general outline of what the project needs to achieve. It is called a 'brief' because it is usually quite short, and doesn't give much detail. It is up to you to read the brief and begin to break it down into more manageable tasks. Have a look at the brief on the intranet.
Reality Show – Task 1 Stages of the Systems Lifecycle To help you to plan this project you will use something called the System Lifecycle. This splits the project into separate stages. The main stages of the system lifecycle are: Identify - decide what we need to do. Test - make sure the system works. Design - plan the system. Evaluate - decide how we could make the system better. Develop - implement; put the design into action. Analyse - decide what we need to make sure the system works. These are the stages, but they are not in the right order. Can you put each stage in the correct order in the system lifecycle Open up the System Lifecycle sheet on the Intranet.
Reality Show – Task 1 Create a mind map diagram The brief helps you identify the problem, and also gives you some idea of what tasks you will need to carry out. A mind map diagram is a good way of breaking a big problem into more manageable problems. It can also help us divide what tasks we need to do, and what tools or software we can use to do them. Using the brief, draw a mind map to help you break down the problem of creating a reality TV show into smaller tasks. Tips: Use different colours for different part of the problem. Separate your map into clear sections. If you think of a really good idea while you are drawing your mind map, put it in!
