The Marriage Theory A married woman could not sue or be sued. Husband sued for her. Reaped the benefits. He controlled her wages.

Marriage Theory (continued) Lived where he wanted, by force if necessary. Had to cook, clean, have kids, raise them, and meet his sexual demands. Sole guardian of any children. He provided clothes, food, and a home.
