Biblical Kindness

Historical Books: Kindness in Action

God is Kind ‪ Gen. 19:15-19 As morning dawned, the angels urged Lot, saying, "Up! Take your wife and your two daughters who are here, lest you be swept away in the punishment of the city." 16 But he lingered. So the men seized him and his wife and his two daughters by the hand, the LORD being merciful to him, and they brought him out and set him outside the city. 17 And as they brought them out, one said, "Escape for your life. Do not look back or stop anywhere in the valley. Escape to the hills, lest you be swept away." 18 And Lot said to them, "Oh, no, my lords. Behold, your servant has found favor in your sight, and you have shown me great kindness in saving my life. But I cannot escape to the hills, lest the disaster overtake me and I die.

God is Kind ‪ Gen 24:12-14 And he said, “O Lord, God of my master Abraham, please grant me success today and show steadfast love to my master Abraham. ‬ 13 Behold, I am standing by the spring of water, and the daughters of the men of the city are coming out to draw water. 14 Let the young woman to whom I shall say, ‘Please let down your jar that I may drink,’ and who shall say, ‘Drink, and I will water your camels’—let her be the one whom you have appointed for your servant Isaac. By this I shall know that you have shown steadfast love to my master.” ‬

God is Kind ‪ Gen 39: As soon as his master heard the words that his wife spoke to him, "This is the way your servant treated me," his anger was kindled. 20 And Joseph's master took him and put him into the prison, the place where the king's prisoners were confined, and he was there in prison. 21 But the LORD was with Joseph and showed him steadfast love and gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison. 22 And the keeper of the prison put Joseph in charge of all the prisoners who were in the prison. Whatever was done there, he was the one who did it.

God is Kind Exo 34:6 The Lord passed before him and proclaimed, “The Lord, the Lord, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness, ‪Exo 34:7 keeping steadfast love for thousands forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, but who will by no means clear the guilty visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children and the children’s children, to the third and the fourth generation.”‬ Num 14:18 ‘The Lord is slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, forgiving iniquity and transgression, but he will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, to the third and the fourth generation.’‬

Reciprocal Kindness  ‪ ‪ ‬ Deu 7:12 “And because you listen to these rules and keep and do them, the Lord your God will keep with you the covenant and the steadfast love that he swore to your fathers.‬ ‬‪1Sa 15:6 Then Saul said to the Kenites, “Go, depart; go down from among the Amalekites, lest I destroy you with them. For you showed kindness to all the people of Israel when they came up out of Egypt.” So the Kenites departed from among the Amalekites.‬ ‬

Poetical Books: Kindness Applied

God is Kind ‪ ‪ Psa 33:18 Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear him, on those who hope in his steadfast love, ‬‬ ‪ Psa 33:22 Let your steadfast love, O Lord, be upon us, even as we hope in you. ‬‬ ‪ Psa 36:5 Your steadfast love, O Lord, extends to the heavens, your faithfulness to the clouds

God is Kind ‪ ‪ ‪‪ Psa 36:7 How precious is your steadfast love, O God! The children of mankind take refuge in the shadow of your wings. ‬‬ ‪ Psa 36:10 Oh, continue your steadfast love to those who know you, and your righteousness to the upright of heart! ‬

God is Kind ‪ ‪ ‪ Psa 107:1 Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever! ‬‬ ‪ Psa 107:8 Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love, for his wondrous works to the children of man! ‬‬ ‪ Psa 107:15 Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love, for his wondrous works to the children of man! ‬

Prophetical Books: Kindness Obligations

God is Kind ‪ Mic 6:8 He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness and to walk humbly with your God? ‪‪ Zec 7:9 “Thus says the Lord of hosts Render true judgments, show kindness and mercy to one another, ‬ ‪
