12 Can Wyoming Afford to Invest?

13 Recap of Legislative Proposal $45.2 Million to Increase Salaries $33.3 Million for Health Insurance $13.5 Million External Cost Adjustment $ 4.5 Million Summer School Funding $ 5.0 Million Full Day Kindergarten $101.5 Million Total Funding Increase

14 How much will this proposal cost the Wyoming taxpayer? This proposal will not cost the Wyoming taxpayer one additional dollar! Current projections indicate a large surplus in School Foundation Program in Future taxes will not be raised as a result of this proposal. Sufficient revenue to support this increase will continue to flow into the program in future years.

15 Why Is This Necessary? Wyoming average teacher salaries have dropped in ranking from 6 th in the nation 20 years ago to 36 th nationally in The cost of employee health insurance to school districts exceeds the School Foundation funding provided by over $2500 per employee! Revenue estimates project these proposals can be funded with School Foundation revenue for and leave a surplus of $221.5 million!
