3 Description of the project  Microsoft package/2010 Word Excel and PowerPoint Strengths  Learners are able to use skills to complete assignments at school  Retrieve information on Internet  The use of facilities Weaknesses  Different skills levels of learners, some never worked with computers before  Not having access to computers at school and home to practice skills learned  Internet sometimes slow of off and a few power failures Portfolio Section C

How did the initiative work? o Learners travelled from school to CPUT for computer sessions o All sessions were presented by final year students and Dr Kalvin Whittles of the Mathematics Department 6Portfolio Section C

Was there a local champion?  Denise Ontong who liaised with the school and CPUT and she’s also a representative of school’s Alumni association  She was project’s link with the institutions and community 7Portfolio Section C
