LISTENING VS. ACTIVE LISTENING Listening To make an effort to hear something Process of hearing sound via vibrations hitting ear drum Paying attention to sounds Active Listening A way of listening and responding to improve understanding Intentional focus on hearing and understanding what a speaker is communicating Attention given to non- verbal attributes, context and tone
