Objectives Investigate Scholarships – Find scholarships of interest using Naviance Scholarship List Scholarship Match Record scholarships of interest

Review Last Lesson Common admission considerations – GPA, ACT and/or SAT Score, Recommendations – Resume, Essay, Percent Accepted, Class Rank Activity or organization present at colleges – Choir, LGBTQ, Sororities, Pre-Med, Religious Three main types of college surroundings – Urban, Suburban, Rural

Investigate Scholarships Many students can find scholarships that are a good match for them Personal Information – Gender, Ethnicity, LGBTQ, Parent’s Company Academic Information – GPA, Foreign Language, Engineering, Science Overcome Major Obstacles Community Service

National vs. Local Scholarships National Scholarships – Sometimes has a bigger dollar amount – Sometimes awards more scholarships Example: 50 scholarships vs. 3 scholarships awarded – More students apply for scholarships Local Scholarships – Sometimes has a smaller dollar amount – Sometimes awards less scholarships – Fewer students apply for scholarships
