New Board Policy About AP Courses Beginning this year, if a student chooses to take an AP course and wants the grade bump, they must take the AP Exam. If a student cannot afford the cost of an AP exam ($91), the district will pay for it. A grade bump is given only a when student earns a grade of “C” or better in the class.

“F” Policy for Seniors  Seniors will not be eligible to participate in the graduation ceremony if any of the following occurs: 1. A senior receives 3 or more semester “F” grades during his/her senior year. 2. A senior receives more than one “F” going into 2 nd semester finals.

30 Period Absence Rule  Seniors who accumulate more than 30 period absences (excused or unexcused) during the spring semester will lose the privilege of attending Prom, Grad Trip, and the graduation ceremony.  Students who are absent during the spring semester due to illness must present a physician’s note to clear absences.

Seniors must serve all attendance/discipline hours if you wish to walk in the graduation ceremony You can attend Saturday School:8 AM in the cafeteria (up to 4 hours) to serve attendance or discipline hours. You can attend After School Detention (Room 233) to serve discipline hours. Attendance hours may be served in After School Detention only if you have served 4 hours at the previous Saturday School. See your support manager if you would like to serve hours with a teacher or at a special event: Mrs. Maupin, Mr. Rabago, Mrs. Austin If you do not make an effort to serve your attendance/discipline hours, you may lose the privilege of participating in extracurricular activities such as sports, ASB, clubs, dances, university tours, grad trip, etc.

College Application Assistance  During October and November, counselors will be helping seniors apply online to universities (in the Career Center).  Each counselor will have a binder in the Career Center with available dates/times.  Seniors should choose a time/block that’s good for them and sign up. CSU Placement Tests CSU schools require incoming Freshmen college students to take the English Placement Test (EPT) and the Entry Level Mathematics Test (ELM) prior to enrollment unless you are exempt. Why?To assess your readiness for college-level work and to place you in the appropriate English & math classes. If you do not score high enough, you may be required to (1) leave the university or (2) take pre-college level courses to improve your skills.
