Introduction “Data-driven educational decision is making is more than a data system. It is a set of expectations and practices around the ongoing examination of student data (instructor data) to ascertain the effectiveness of educational activities and subsequently to refine programs and practices to improve outcomes for students.” 4

Demographics = Target Audience Offers a snapshot of who you serve (age, race, employment and gender) Gives the target audience of each county in SDA Helps develop class schedules to meet demand Drives material purchases Sets size of faculty and staff 7
Time and Duration = Contact Hours Show which classes are attended most Provide a guide to class size and number of sessions Drives additional classes in an academic level Monitor student attendance for post- testing 8
Sites = Location Reveals the strength of classes in each county Displays percentage of attendance at site Offers a picture of services to be compared to the county’s need 9
Effectiveness = Progress Gives baseline in the form of EFL Tracks percentage of level completions by level, instructor, subject area and site Shows pretests and post tests results Reveals the efficiency of remediation plans from scores generated after post testing Builds retention 10
Goals & Expectations = Success Gives academic reports that build retention in the classroom Provides conference notes from faculty and staff to document a student’s GED test results and tailor instruction Shows obtainment of completions, benchmarks and GEDs 11

GALIS Report NRS Table 4 Local (AL149) – by instructor, student Print this every morning Keeps you updated on enrollment, contact hours, and completions Allows you to be proactive if you see a teacher struggling with enrollment, hours, or completions Allows you to have accurate up to date numbers
GALIS Report AL 191 – Post- Test Tracker Print for every staff meeting to keep teachers up to date with who needs to be post tested. It provides the most recent test info and hours attended since last test date and it saves time from having to pull student folders. Take this report when you visit teachers Teachers should also print this report after the 10 th of each month to determine who needs to be post- tested.
Motivation Tips A happy teacher is a productive teacher!!! Provide personal incentives like cakes and gift cards to the teachers for the most enrolled, or contact hours, or the highest percentage for the month. Give certificates and recognition at staff meetings Recognize teacher of the month on Facebook Participate in all classroom parties
