E-publishing Task Group Ten steps for creating a community of practice: 1. Choose a topic of interest to a large group of people that aligns with sponsor’s goals; develop clear charge. 2. Find convenient way for people to communicate and to share ideas/documents. 3. Allow freedom of expression but be prepared to moderate when things seem slow or seem to go astray.

Transparency- Post agendas/minutes; keep a communication exchange with larger group (i.e., the e-pub Community of Practice interacting with the FACT2 Council). 5. Look for some projects that can be completed and others that continue to build. 6. Be project-driven and delegate tasks.

Make sure group leader can be found when questions about group activities arise. 9. Identify timelines, delegate responsibilities and stay accountable. Build-in back up/reminder systems. 10.Plan for succession and smooth transition for next iteration/cycle. Remember to acknowledge all who helped.
