4 Duke’s Health Plans  Duke offers 4 plans to meet the diverse needs of faculty, staff and their families.  Consider: cost, coverage, physician network, dependents, etc. Did You Know? For those enrolled in Duke Select and Duke Basic the provider network will continue to expand in Wake County.

6 Comparing the Cost of Health Care  Did You Know? In 2006, the average medical claims cost per Duke employee was $5,298, most of which was covered by Duke.

7 Pharmacy Benefits  No increase in pharmacy co-pays  Decrease in co-pay for diabetic insulin and supplies – savings of up to $1,200/year Did You Know? Typically, generic drugs cost 30 percent to 60 percent less than the brand-name drug.

8 Duke’s Vision Plan for 2008  No increase for premiums in  Premiums from $8.85 for individual coverage and $27.47 for family coverage. Vision Plan: provides coverage for prescription lenses and frames or contact lenses (in lieu of eyeglasses), as well as a complete annual eye exam.

Despite being one of the best ways to save money on health care expenses, only 18 percent of eligible faculty and staff take advantage of the Health Care Reimbursement Account.
