Luke 1:67-79 is one of the most comprehensive prophecies in the Bible. (Read from RSV Bible)

Luke 1:67 And his father Zechariah was filled with the Holy Spirit,.. John (The Baptist) Elizabeth now Zachariah (BHS Not limited to Acts 2:4ff)

(1 Samuel 10:1-7) 1 Samuel 10:6 (To the soon to be King Saul) Then the spirit of the LORD will come mightily upon you, and you shall prophesy with them and be turned into another man. Saul seems representative of historic spiritual Israel; given great promise and provision, yet consistently impoverished in faithfulness…much as the church is.

Luke 1:68 "Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, for he has visited and redeemed his people, has is past tense ‘coming and present’

That is why we utter the Amen through him, to the glory of God.

Luke 1:69 and has raised up a horn (strength - power) of salvation for us in the house of his servant David, 70 as he (God), (Remember the biblical concept of wisdom) spoke (past tense-not new) by the mouth of his holy prophets from of old,

…salvation for us in (instrumental) the house of his servant David John 4:22 You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from (of-instrumental) the Jews.

Luke 1:71 that we should be saved (wider concept-shalom) from our enemies, and from the hand (activities) of all who hate us; As sons of Abraham and the house of David, we have both enemies- adversaries and are the object of hatred. (natural and supernatural)

Deuteronomy 6:23 and he brought us out from there, that he might bring us in and give us the land which he swore to give to our fathers. (saved to perform) (out to go in)

Luke 1:72 to perform the mercy (grace) [to be performers of mercy-grace] promised to our fathers, and to remember (Ps 111:4) his holy covenant,

The promise to our fathers, Genesis 12:3 I will bless those who bless you, and him who curses you I will curse; and by you all the families of the earth shall bless themselves."

To remember his holy covenant “I will be your God and you shall be my (possession) people.” (multiple references)

An example of the covenant Genesis 17:.."I am God Almighty; walk before me, and be blameless. 2 And I will make my covenant between me and you, and will multiply you exceedingly.. 7 And I will establish my covenant between me and you and your descendants after you throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and to your descendants after you.

Galatians 3:7 So you see that it is men of faith who are the sons of Abraham. 8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, "In you shall all the nations be blessed." 9 So then, those who are men of faith are blessed with Abraham who had faith. (Faith and covenant, a relationship of possessiveness; authority and voluntary ownership)

Luke 1:73 the oath which he swore to our father Abraham, 74 to grant (grace) us that (in order that, for the purpose of) we, being delivered from the hand of our enemies, might serve him without fear, 75 in holiness and righteousness before him all the days of our life.

Luke 1:74..might serve him without fear, 75 in holiness (torah difference) and righteousness (covenant relationship) before him all the days of our life.

Luke 1:76 And you, child (John), will be called the prophet of the Most High; for you will go before the Lord to prepare his ways,

Luke 1:16 And he will turn many of the sons of Israel to the Lord their God, 17 and he will go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready for the Lord a people prepared." Malachi 4:4 "Remember the law of my servant Moses, the statutes and ordinances that I commanded him at Horeb for all Israel. 5 "Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the great and terrible day of the LORD comes. 6 And he will turn the hearts of fathers to their children and the hearts of children to their fathers,

Luke 1:..to prepare his ways, 77 to give knowledge* of salvation to his people in the forgiveness of their sins, 78 through the tender mercy (grace) of our God, Hebrews 10:2.. If the worshipers had once been cleansed, they would no longer have any consciousness* of sin.

Luke 1:78..through the tender mercy of our God, when the day shall dawn upon us from on high.. (when insight arrives-dawns, one can have knowledge without perception of meaning)

KJV Luke 1:78 Through the tender mercy of our God; whereby the dayspring (as the rising of the sun or stars in the east) from on high hath visited us,.. RSV Luke 1:78 through the tender mercy of our God, when the day shall dawn upon us from on high

Luke 1:78.. when the day shall dawn upon us from on high 79 to give light (insight) to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace (shalom).

Isaiah 9:2 The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shined. 3 Thou hast multiplied the nation, thou hast increased its joy; they rejoice before thee as with joy at the harvest,..
