One of the most well known OT prophets  Man of faith, Heb. 11:32-34  Influenced the succeeding generation 1 Sam. 19:20

Born during the time of the judges  Cycles of apostasy, Judges 21:25  Oppression by enemies

Parents were faithful servants of God  Elkanah, a Levite, 1 Chron. 6:26-34  Yearly sacrifice, 1 Sam. 1:3  Hannah faithful to her word, 1 Sam. 1:24-28

Israel struggled to survive  Eli’s corrupt sons, 1 Sam. 2:12-22  Defeated by enemies, 1 Sam. 4:1, 2  Reduced God to an idol, 1 Sam. 4:3  Idolatry, 1 Sam. 7:3
