Ideas for Incorporating the [xyz] QSEN Competency in Your Classroom [** Be sure to change the competency in the title of this slide. Material for this slide comes from various places: Teaching Strategies on the QSEN websiteQSEN website QSEN National Forum – Jot notes to yourself about the various strategies you are learning about at the conference. ] QSEN Corner recommendations are presented each week in Kelly’s newsletter. To receive her newsletter just ‘Follow Dr. B. by at to sign up for the newsletter. Institute of Healthcare Improvement

[If you attended the Faculty Institute to be trained as a trainer. You had to survey your faculty for examples of what they were currently assigning or evaluating in their classrooms as it related to the QSEN competencies. Go back to those survey results and you will find material that you can copy and paste into this section! Ask faculty what they are currently doing in their classroom. Ask them to send you their innovative teaching or evaluation strategies. Include their innovation with the corresponding month. Be sure to highlight the innovative faculty by bolding their name. ] Faculty Innovations

[Here are some ideas for creating three questions: 1. Encourage faculty to use the QSEN website by asking questions such as: “Which of the following learning modules under Faculty Resources on the website would be a valuable resource for faculty looking to infuse informatics into a course? A. Modules Two and Three B. Modules Four and Seven C. Modules Eight and Ten D. Modules One and Six 2. Ask a question that can easily be answered by reading the newsletter. 3. Ask a fill in the blank question that encourages faculty to seek new teaching strategies. 4. From time to time, I will post QSEN quiz questions on my website that you may want to use.] After reading the QSEN Corner and exploring the various ideas presented here, consider how this material is relevant to your courses. How might you create ways to foster the practice of [name the competency of the month here]? How might you emphasize to your students the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to develop the cornerstones of [name the competency of the month here]? How will you assess whether your teaching practices were successful? ** Be a Featured Innovator!! ** us about projects or teaching strategies you are using to develop QSEN competencies in your courses! ** Coming up in February: Patient Centered Care Reflection Ideas QSEN Quiz

[Insert some great quotes and relevant graphics on this page.] [Faculty have made comments about really liking this page.] Thoughts
