Life in the Future Last week the children went to the science museum. Professor Moon talked to them. “About 7 billion people live on Earth now. But Earth may become too crowded. Then what will we do? Today people can live and work in space stations. In the future we may build huge cities in space. Men have walked on the moon. In the future we may travel to other planets. There may be life on other planets”. Do you believe that people will live in space? Where do you think they may build the first space settlement?

The Solar System What planet do you think people may build the first space settlement on? To know more about other planets you can see Find some facts about the planets and think about the most suitable place to live.

Where may people live in future? 1.What planet people may build the first space town on? Give your arguments: pros and cons Uranus Sun Mars Jupiter Venus Moon Neptune Mercury Saturn 2. Have people ever been to other planets?

The Moon, the nearest! The huge rocket went up into the sky. There were three American astronauts in it. They were very excited. The moon was 400,000 km away and the journey took three days. Two astronauts went down onto the moon. Neil Armstrong was the first man to stand on the moon on 21 st July, The two men stayed on the moon for about 21 hours. They collected soil and rocks. Then they went back to the rocket and travelled back to the Earth. They were the first men to go to the moon! But eight years before the first man went into space. Who was he?

50 Years in Space Fifty years ago on 12 th April, 1961 our Russian man Yuri Gagarin became the first human to journey into outer space is announced the Year of Cosmonautics in Russia. Read for more information and find the answers:

Yuri Gagarin 1.When and where was he born? 2.How tall was he? 3.What sport was he fond of? 4.What was he interested in while a youth? 5.How old was he when he went into space? 6.What was the name of the spacecraft? 7.How long did the flight last? 8.How many times did he orbit the Earth? 9.What was his call sign in that flight? 10.When did he die?

Yuri Gagarin 1.He was born in the village Klushino near Gzhatsk on 9 th March, He was 1.57 metres tall. 3.He was fond of ice hockey. He liked to play goal keeper. 4.While a youth he was interested in space and planets, and began to dream about his space tour. 5.He was 37 years old when he went into space. 6.The name of the spacecraft was Vostok 1. 7.The flight lasted 108 minutes. 8.He orbited the Earth one time. 9.His call sign in this flight was Kedr. 10.He died in 1968.
