THE SUN By: Cole Sinnott 4/3/12

Some data facts about the Sun Scientists believe that the Sun is approximately 4.6 billion yrs. old. The Suns diameter is about 865,000 miles. The distance from the Sun to the Earth is 93 million miles away. At the inner core of the Sun it is 27 million degrees Fahrenheit. The suns made up of 92% hydrogen and 7% helium and the rest is unknown. The Suns surface is 10,000 degrees Fahrenheit.

The Different parts of the Sun The inner core Radiative The outer core The radiative core And the corona

Fun facts about the Sun If you step on the Sun (which I highly don’t recommend doing) you will be 27 times heavier than you are here on Earth. The Sun was formed from a HUGE cloud. In approximately 5 billion yrs. The Sun will become a red giant.

Did you know? Did you know that the Suns atmosphere is made of 3 different parts: photospheres, chromospheres and a solar corona. Did you know that solar flares can occur when magnetic fields from the Sun come together and cause HUGE explosions on the Suns surface.

Interesting facts The dwarf planet Pluto is sometimes 3.4 billion miles away from the Sun. Without the Sun there would be no animals and even us. The Sun used to be a cloud until gravity squeezed it so tightly that it became a hot star.

More data facts about the Sun The Suns mass is 2 x The Suns volume is 1.41 x 1033cm squared. The Sun has the biggest mass in our solar system.

Cool facts about the Sun The energy from the Sun travels outward. The Sun is the only star in our solar system. The Sun takes about 25 days to do a full rotation and the Earth takes 24 hours WOW!
