Today’s Purpose Provide information about the upcoming landscaping changes Location: Grandview Avenue between Saulsbury and Lamar streets 3

Gold Line 11.2 miles commuter rail Electric railcars Connects downtown Denver, Adams County, Arvada and Wheat Ridge Complete in

Gold Line History The Environmental Impact Statement determined that the trees on Grandview between Lamar and Saulsbury had to be removed because they were in the alignment or could overhang the power lines Moving or preserving the trees was considered but determined not feasible due to:  Size of the trees  Slope at which the trees were growing The City of Arvada, Denver Transit Partners and RTD worked together to develop a landscaping redesign plan for this segment 5

Grandview Redesign Plan 6 Removal of 54 trees from Lamar Street to Saulsbury Street along Grandview Avenue Redesign includes 66 new trees (various types) planted in this segment

Grandview Tree Selections 7 Selected trees are indicative of the current landscaping found in Arvada Selected trees meet with the required height and width to ensure separation from overhead electrified lines Trees are compliant with the RTD/DTP commitment to safety along the alignment

Construction Schedule* Lamar intersection work begins – early December 2012 Tree Removal – early January 2013 Drainage Improvements – mid January 2013 Retaining wall construction – mid February 2013 Grandview Reconstruction – mid April 2013 Installation of new trees – late April 2013 *Construction schedules are subject to change. 8
