The Drawings

Scientist log SCIENTIST LOG: The wands go to the side. The wand is hitting the side when it spins. Moved the wand over a little and that seemed to fix the problem. We made the bubble soap solution with Dawn dish soap and distilled water. The first attempt didn’t work because we didn’t have enough soap. So I put more soap in it. That worked. I think the fan is to strong. The bubbles aren’t blowing all the time. I moved the fan back and forth until the bubbles blew. The hub needs to be moved because the wands need be long enough to reach the bubble solution. When I pull them out from the hub they hit the ends of the opening.

Supply’s WHAT YOU NEED Wire Milk carton Brads Fan Bubble soap

Explanation First we had to get a milk carton and wire. I took the milk carton and had to cut the exact measurement for the hole. Then I took the exact measurement to cut the wire. You can put a cork or use florist foam for the hub so the bubble wands can spin. To keep the bubble soap from pouring out of the milk carton I made a clay plug. This is because the cap from the milk carton was lost. The wands are made out of wire. I used the end of the wire egg holders we got from our Easter egg kit. I took the bubble wands I made and connected them to the florist foam. To make it work you take the handle for the Bubble Box and turn it. And you need the fan to blow the bubbles.

What I Think The invention was kind of a success. The Bubble Box’s hub was too big. When you spin it the hub gets caught on the sides. The bubble wands fall of too much. Other than that it was a complete success! I tried to trim it but some of the foam fell off. There are a few ways I could change it. I am going to make the hole bigger and use a cork instead of the florist foam for the hub.

Sources: The idea for the experiment was given to me by Joy Shier, my advising teacher. Acknowledgements: Credit goes to my Mother for getting the milk carton and the wire. To my Dad for helping me make the bubble soap.
