The network of NGOs providing support to women victims of human trafficking  Human trafficking consolidates women’s slavery for sexual abuse.  Forms of sexual abuse of women are changing.  The definition of ‘victim’ is a still sensitive topic in Lithuania.  Negative attitude becomes an obstacle in solving the problem of trafficked women and does not allow the women to have successful reintegration into society. The network of NGOs providing support to women victims of human trafficking  The Program of Prevention and Control of Human Trafficking for 2005 – 2008 by the Government of Lithuania is devoted to create and in still a compound and long term system of controlling and prevention means of human trafficking.  A special role in providing support to victims of trafficking lies on non-governmental organizations. The network of NGOs providing support to women victims of human trafficking  Over the past eight months due to this project ten women victims of trafficking for sexual exploitation were helped: - received social, psychological and legal advice - received material support (food, accommodation, clothes, and other goods) - obtained needed qualifications or education - reintegration into the job market Klaipeda Social and Psychological Services Center

The network of NGOs providing support to women victims of human trafficking  The Nordic Baltic pilot project made it possible to promote and coordinate the best possible assistance and support systems for women victims of trafficking for sexual exploitation.  A network of Non-governmental organizations was also the goal of the project.  NGOs are trying to find solutions for many rising problems. The network of NGOs providing support to women victims of human trafficking  The regular supervisions are being organized for the workers.  NGOs together discuss issues of work with victims and try to find best effective outcomes and rational solutions.  The issues of the identification of victim are discussed. The network of NGOs providing support to women victims of human trafficking  One of the top problem is the lack of short-term support (reception) centre in Lithuania  This question remains open and waits for decision to be taken. Klaipeda Social and Psychological Services Center

The network of NGOs providing support to women victims of human trafficking  It is important to ensure good work conditions for the staff of NGOs, and to provide protection and safety from the pimps to women who are trying to get away from pimps’ net (prostitution).  The network of both governmental and non-governmental institutions should be strengthened.
