Geography and Climate of Florida Florida is a peninsula located in the southeastern United States. It is bordered by the Atlanta ocean on the East and the Gulf of Mexico on the West Parts of Florida are swampy lowlands (The Everglades) while the rest of Flower is primarily flat. Northern and central Florida has a humid subtropical climate while southern Florida has a tropical climate. This makes Florida a popular destination in the winter months.
