BASICS OF A HYBRID CAR  Two sources of power - combustible engine - electric engine  Range of prices - depending on what brand and make of car - the cheapest being under $10,000 to over $100,000

 More costly  Batteries can be Risky  Safety Hazards

 The cost of a new hybrid can be very costly.  Hybrids can have a wide range of prices and can cost more to maintain then a regular car because not every garage will work on hybrids.  It can especially be costly if any mechanical issues occur such as if something happens to the charging system.  Also, if two of the same cars are purchased and one runs purely on gas and another one is a hybrid the hybrid will cost slightly more.  Example: The difference between a Chevy Malibu and a Chevy Hybrid Malibu is about 6,300 dollars.

 Hybrid batteries are very expensive to replace and they can be a safety issue also.  If someone is in an accident they could be very hard to get out even with the help of someone else mainly because of the danger of electrocution.  These cars carry large amounts of voltage and if an accident occurs and wires from the battery tear off it could be potentially dangerous to handle.

 Not only is the battery in a hybrid car very dangerous.  There are many other potentially dangerous things that come along with owning a hybrid car.  The security factors are raised when driving a hybrid car due to the lightweight body of the car which can be a major risk when in an accident.  These vehicles are also not ideal for driving in certain weather conditions like areas that get a lot of flooding or snow which could be a serious safety hazard.

 While there are positives to owning Hybrid cars, there are also many negatives.  Because of these negatives, most people still drive regular gas-guzzling cars.  If people could reduce these negatives the Hybrid car would be much better in every aspect.
