Gale Digital Collections Mapping History RC to HISTORY Curriculum United States History, Present The goal of this course is to provide students with a basic understanding of American history since Focusing on both the domestic scene and America's changing place in world affairs, the class will return to a number of themes: America's growing economic and military power in the world — and the limits of this power; the development of a mass culture; the growth of a powerful economy and the efforts to distribute its munificence, to blunt its inequalities, and to maintain its prosperity; the struggle to win the rights of citizenship for all Americans, regardless of race, class, creed, or sex; and the efforts of America's political leaders and the national government to manage and control the changing political, economic, cultural, and international situation.
