 Lavalier microphone: Also known as a Lapel mic, it is a small hand-free microphone commonly used in television, theatre, or public speaking. It usefulness is the ability to gain microphone quality sound with as little microphone being shown, allowing the person to deliver lines or information without a noticeable mic.

 Shotgun Microphone: A long microphone with most of the focus on the front, eliminating unnecessary background noise, keeping the sound on the primary object. Most effective on movie sets, in stadiums and out in the wild recording wildlife.
