 North America is the 3rd largest continent on Earth.  It lies mostly in the northern hemisphere.  It covers about 9.4 million square miles.  North America covers just over 16% of the planet ’ s land area.

 North America has over 500 million people.  The largest city in North America is Mexico City, Mexico. It has almost 9 million people.  The United States has more people than any other country in North America.  There are over 300 million people in the U.S.A.

 The Grand Canyon is a colorful steep-sided gorge carved by the Colorado River in the state of Arizona.  It was created over a period of 6 million years!  It is 277 miles long, ranges in width from 4 to 18 miles and gets over a mile deep.
