Literature Review According to George’s Article, the misconception of a student whose first language is not English is a bad thing. Many students who speak Spanish as their first language are automatically sent to ESL classrooms which they learn at a slower pace. In Ibarra’s article, the focused is on the documentation the student has. In many states like California, Arizona, and New Mexico many students do not have proper documentation to go to college. This is just deters them from completing high school in which they would usually go to work at a low skill job. “Caught Up” described the neighborhood and setting of a child growing up is detrimental to their learning process. In this article, the author focused on violence in the child’s community which gives them a negative impact.
