Our approach at Brightwalton This is a slimmed down version of the previous National Curriculum (N.C.). There is flexibility for schools to plan a how they will deliver the knowledge of the curriculum. We must remember that the N.C. need not be the same as the ‘School curriculum …’ There is the freedom once N.C. coverage is achieved to prioritise other areas of learning. ‘Schools are also free to include other subjects or topics of their choice in planning and designing their own programme of education.’ DFE 2013

Our approach at Brightwalton Staff established our curriculum vision and aims during Summer Term We reviewed the current knowledge, expertise and enthusiasms of staff. All staff mapped out the Learning Objectives across a two year rolling programme, offering a variety of experiences and themes to match our school and its location. We are working on establishing a new assessment framework, based on the End of Year Expectations of the 2014 curriculum.
