“WHAT MUST I DO TO BE SAVED?” ○ We have talked about, the standard by which all men will be judged (the Bible) and that it requires obedience. ○ We also talked about the Kingdom, how it was foretold and manifested in the church and to be outside of that kingdom constituted death. ○ Most people will want to be part of this kingdom, but there is a problem… SIN Only the blood of Jesus can remove the taint of sin. It is only through God’s grace as seen in the cross of Christ that we can have a hope of eternal life. ○ We also considered, the COST and that God expects our all, to deny our selves and place Him first. ○ Now we’ll consider what God requires of us to inherit His awesome grace. ○ How will we know what God requires of us unless He tells us? We can’t ○ Heb 1:1-2 - In the past God spoke directly to the patriarchs and then the prophets, but he today speaks through His Son. The passage goes on to give Christ the authority

HEAR THE WORD OF GOD ROM 10:17 - Faith comes by hearing ROM 1:16 - Gospel is the power of God unto salvation There is no other way to know what God wants us to do HEAR THE WORD OF GOD ● ROM 10:17 - FAITH COMES BY HEARING - Our faith in God is developed through a knowledge of His will. ● ROM 1:16 - GOSPEL IS THE POWER OF GOD UNTO SALVATION - The gospel contains God’s power to save souls. ● THERE IS NO OTHER WAY TO KNOW WHAT GOD WANTS US TO DO ○ It won’t be a vision or a dream (those spiritual gifts have passed away), or a direct revelation from God. It won’t be “another gospel” or angel bringing unreadable text.

You can’t call on God to be saved if you have not believed that God is there and can do so. You can not believe in God if you have not heard the message preached. Vs 17 further builds on that. ● HEB 11:6 - We can not please God without faith ● JAS 2:24 - Faith alone will not save ● JAS 2:19 - Belief is not enough, there is more!

BE BAPTIZED MEANING - “Immersion” MK 16:16 - Those baptized = saved ROM 6:3-4 - Baptism is a burial ACTS 8:34-39 - Baptized in water ACTS 2:38; 22:16 - For the forgiveness of sins 1 PET 3:21 - Baptism saves us BE BAPTIZED ● MEANING - The English word “baptize” today has come be known as many things such as dipping, sprinkling and immersion. The Greek word “baptizo” means to “immerse”. ● MK 16:16 ● ROM 6:3-4 - Through baptism we are placed into Christ's death and burial ● ACTS 8:34-39 - Notice that earlier in this passage that Jesus was preached to the Eunuch.
