TONIGHT’S TOPIC Ask Your Preacher/Pastor or Priest Is The “ONENESS DOCTRINE” A Scriptural Teaching?

THE DOCTRINE DEFINED: "Oneness is the doctrine that the Godhead consists of but ONE PERSONALITY who manifests Himself in various functions, identified as: FATHER, SON and HOLY GHOST/SPIRIT.There are NOT THREE PERSONALITIES, but rather the FATHER, SON and the HOLY GHOST/SPIRIT are not distinct."

THE DOCTRINE'S ORIGIN: Up until the late early 1914 the doctrine of ONENESS was not known nor spoken of: –On page 15 of United we Stand, by Arthur L. Clanton this claim is made: –"The concept of the revelation of the "ONENESS" was revealed from God, who had hidden this 'truth' until this age. The revelation was made known at a camp meeting in Arroyo Seco, California in the late early 1914 through a John G. Scheepe.“ John G. Scheepe - claims that during a night of prayer "God revealed the doctrine of the 'ONENESS' and 'BAPTISM in the NAME OF JESUS ONLY'"

THOSE WHO HOLD TO THIS DOCTRINE: This doctrine is primarily held to by the UNITED PENTECOSTAL church: –Their manual states: –"In the year 1914 came the revelation on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. The pivotal doctrines of the absolute deity of Christ and the baptism in His name became tenants of faith. God marvelously confirmed our message as the Gospel was preached in its fullness. The power which was hidden in the name of Jesus began to be revealed."

NEEDED CONCLUSIONS: This doctrine had a wrong starting place --- California. This doctrine had a wrong starting time This doctrine has the wrong starting person --- John G. Scheppe. This doctrine has the wrong means of Authority --- Direct Revelation.

NEEDED CONCLUSIONS: That if "ONENESS" is a recent doctrine it is not part of the revelation or doctrine - "once for all delivered" - Jude 3. That this doctrine was not preached by the Apostles - thus it is not truth - John 16:13 That those who teach such a doctrine are under the curse of Galatians 1:8-9 & 2 John 9. Since this doctrine is not from God it must then be from man --- Matthew 15:13.

Oneness Doctrine CONSIDERATIONS: Prior to Christ taking on a fleshly body - the SONSHIP DID NOT EXIST: –Under this doctrine one must admit that at the present time there is no "SON of GOD". –Since Christ is not now in the body --- Philippians 3:20-21 ; 1 Cor. 15: But, 1 John 4:2-3 says that the "anti- Christ" denies that Jesus is FROM GOD.

ILLOGICAL CONCLUSIONS THAT MUST BE DRAWN : IF CHRIST AND THE HOLY SPIRIT ARE THE SAME PERSONALITY THEN: –The angels lied in Acts 1:11 Christ will come in like manner as you see Him go" --- Christ went with the clouds. –But the Holy Ghost/Spirit came as a sound of a mighty rushing wind --- cf. Acts 2:2 –Appeared unto them as divided tongues of fire - -- cf. Acts 2:3 Was this in like manner as the disciples saw Him Go??? –NO !!!! therefore if this doctrine is correct then the angels lied.

Peter lied while under inspiration of God Peter 3: When Christ returned the 2nd time the earth would be destroyed. But if Christ is the Holy Ghost/Spirit then Christ returned the second time in Ad Acts 2:1-4 and again in Acts 10:44 Has the earth been destroyed??? NO !!! thus Peter must have lied when he wrote these things would happen at Christ's return.

IF CHRIST IS GOD THE FATHER - THEN: Christ is both a liar and a deceiver of Men: –Christ deceived the Pharisees as well as us today --- John 8: –The Pharisees understood what some today do not! - The Testimony of "one" is not sufficient in and of itself - John 8:13 –Christ affirms that the O.T. Law requires more than one witness --- cf. Deut. 17:6 ; 19:15 He also affirms that there are two bearing witness of Him - God the Father and Himself. But God the Father is CHRIST according to the “ONENESS" doctrine, thus there is only "ONE WITNESS". –Christ is then a deceiver since He argues that there are "TWO" when He knew all along that there was only "ONE".

IF CHRIST IS GOD THE FATHER - THEN: CHRIST blatantly lied in Matthew 24:36 and Mark 13:32: –ONLY the FATHER knows of His return --- but if Christ is the Father then He also would know. –Note: - that Christ is the SON --- Mark 13:32 -- the SON does not know! Christ promised the Holy Ghost/Spirit to come before the establishment of the Kingdom/Church: –The disciples were told to go wait in Jerusalem, not many days from now they would be baptized with the Holy Ghost/Spirit - Acts 1:4- 5. –But if Christ is the Holy Ghost/Spirit and the Father then according to the "oneness" doctrine - Christ the SON knew the time of His return.

Did Christ Lie??? One must conclude that Christ the Son of God did lie if the "oneness" doctrine is correct WHO CAN BELIEVE THIS?

IF GOD THE FATHER IS THE HOLY SPIRIT - THEN: The Holy Ghost/Spirit also knows of the second coming of Christ. –IF God being "SPIRIT" - John 4:24 and being "HOLY" makes Him the "Holy Spirit" then: –The Angels are also the "HOLY SPIRIT" - angels are Spirits and they are Holy. If God is the Holy Spirit then what the Apostle John wrote in Revelation 5:1- 10 is wrong.

IMPOSSIBILITIES OF THE "ONENESS DOCTRINE" Christ prayed that the disciples might be "ONE" as God was in Him. –If "one" implies one person then all disciples of Christ had better become one person also. In Revelation 5: who is on the throne and who took the scroll? –Did Christ do this to Himself? How could Christ be on Earth --- Acts 2:4 while yet still seated at the right had of God in Heaven --- Acts 2:33?

IMPOSSIBILITIES OF THE "ONENESS DOCTRINE" How could Christ be a mediator between God and Man as is taught in 1 Timothy 2:5? –If they are all one personality who does the mediator stand between if there is only "ONE"? If God and Christ are ONE PERSON, how is Christ greater than Himself? -- John 14:28. If God the Father, Son and Holy Ghost/Spirit be one person how is it that the sin against the Holy Ghost/Spirit be more grievous than the sin against the SON? -- Matthew 12:32. How can Christ deliver HIS Kingdom back to HIMSELF ? - 1 Cor. 15:24.

THE ONLY CONCLUSION TO REACH: "The doctrine of the 'ONENESS' is false and brings forth the condemnation of the Lord." NOTE: –“There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.” Ephesians 4:4-6 The King James Version, (Cambridge: Cambridge) 1769.
