Conformed or Transformed? I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. 2 Do not be conformed to this world (age), but be transformed by the renewal of your mind,
God’s love for the World John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned,
Do not love the world? 1 John 2: 15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world. 17 And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.
God or god? 2 Corinthians 4:4 … the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
Know your enemy Ephesians 6:10-13 Put on the whole armour of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armour of God,
Heavenly Reality Ephesians 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places Ephesians 1:20 that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, 21 far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come.
Our Heavenly reality Ephesians 2:5, 6 …made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— 6 and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, (far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come)
Eschatology or Escapology? John 17:15 I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one. 16 They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. 17 Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth. 18 As you sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world.
‘In’ but not ‘of’ Proverbs 30:18,19. Three things are too wonderful for me; four I do not understand: 19 the way of an eagle in the sky, the way of a serpent on a rock, the way of a ship on the high seas, and the way of a man with a maid
In the world “The key to floating is that the object must displace an amount of water which is equal to its own weight”. 1John 4:4 Little children you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world
Salt and Light 13 “You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? 14 “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
People of Influence Isaiah 61:3 They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the L ORD for the display of his splendour. As you enter the house, greet it. 13 And if the house is worthy, let your peace come upon it, but if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you.
Earthly outworking Ephesians 6:5 Servants respectfully obey your earthly masters but always with an eye to obeying the real master, Christ. Don’t just do what you have to do to get by, but work heartily, as Christ’s servants doing what God wants you to do. And work with a smile on your face, always keeping in mind that no matter who happens to be giving the orders, you’re really serving God.
On Earth 9 Masters, it’s the same with you. No abuse, please, and no threats. You and your servants are both under the same Master in heaven. He makes no distinction between you and them. Colossians 3:17. Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus
touching the untouchables Mark 5:24 The woman with the issue of blood John 8:3,4 The woman taken in adultery Luke 19:1-9 Zacchaeus John 4:4-26 The Samaritan woman Luke 17:11-19 The ten lepers
Judgement!?? I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people— not at all meaning the sexually immoral of this world, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world. But now I am writing to you not to associate with anyone who bears the name of brother if he is guilty of sexual immorality or greed, or is an idolater, reviler, drunkard, or swindler. For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Is it not those inside the church whom you are to judge? 13 God judges those outside.
As the Father sent me John 20:21 Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you. John 3:16,17 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.”
