Basic Information The following topics will be in multiple choice format.

Continents are the largest land areas on the Earth.

Relative location describes where a place is located in relation to other places.

The global address of the United States is on the continent of North America.

The Appalachian Mountains are located in the eastern part of the United States.

The Rocky Mountains are located in the western part of the United States.

The Great Basin has land that is dry, mostly desert land with higher land around it.

A delta is formed when silt builds up at a river’s mouth.

Vocabulary These questions will be matching.

The equator is an imaginary line that circles the globe.

An isthmus is a narrow piece of land that connects two larger land areas.

Elevation means the height of the land.

The place where a river empties into a larger body of water is called the river’s mouth.
