Celebrating God’s Creation… Celebrating God’s Kingdom

Animals are an expression of Gods love. God loves all of the animals of His creation. Animals are important to God and often animals are instruments of God’s plan. Let’s explore a few examples:

On the 5th Day of Creation, God created living creatures of the oceans and birds of the skies, God blessed them and saw that it was good.

On the 6th Day of Creation God created first the animals and then created man and God saw that it was very good.

God loves all of His Creation. “All the animals in the forest are Mine and the cattle on thousands of hills. All the wild birds are Mine and all living in the fields.” Psalm 50:10-11

Man was created only after God created the creatures of the sea, the birds of the skies, and the animals of the land. This should give us some humility.

all of His creatures of creation; animals are important to God God blessed and loves all of His creatures of creation; animals are important to God and they should be important to us! Animals were saved from the flood and were made a part of the covenant with Noah.

and with your descendants after you "I now establish my covenant with you and with your descendants after you and with every living creature that was with you— the birds, the livestock and all the wild animals, all those that came out of the ark with you— every living creature on earth.” Genesis 9:9-10

Think of how much smaller the Noah’s Ark could have been if it hadn’t been for all of the animals?

to be instruments of His will, God sends prophets and disciples God often uses animals to be instruments of His will, similar to the way God sends prophets and disciples to do His will.

The paschal lamb reminds us of the Passover sacrifice and the deliverance from Egypt. Exodus 12:3-14

Jonah and the Giant Fish (The Bible never actually calls it a whale.)

Ravens brought bread to Elijah in the wilderness. Kings 17:6

When Balaam was on his journey, his donkey could see the Angel of the Lord, but Balaam could not until God opened his eyes. Numbers 22:21-39

Jesus was born in the manger because there was no room made for Mary and Joseph at the inn.

Before the Wise Men came to bear gifts to Jesus…

…the animals, the least of us, were there waiting to receive their King, Baby Jesus. The animals were there before we were!

Animals are very important in God’s Kingdom! Creation of Dog Animals were there for the creation of Adam and animals were there for the Birth of Jesus the Christ Child. Animals are very important in God’s Kingdom!

We celebrate Palm Sunday when Jesus rode into Jerusalem riding meekly on a donkey.

“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing. Matthew 23:37

Then one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals.” Revelation 5:5

I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and makes war.  Revelation 19:11

The wolf and the lamb will feed together,        and the lion will eat straw like the ox,        but dust will be the serpent's food.        They will neither harm nor destroy        on all my holy mountain,"        says the LORD. Isaiah 65:25 Animals are included in the repentance enjoined on humans (Jonah 3:7) and animals share in Christ’s redemption of all of God’s creation.

The wolf will live with the lamb,        the leopard will lie down with the goat,        the calf and the lion and the yearling together;        and a little child will lead them. The Peaceable Kingdom

The cow will feed with the bear,        their young will lie down together,        and the lion will eat straw like the ox. The Peaceable Kingdom

The infant will play near the hole of the cobra,        and the young child put his hand into the viper's nest. The Peaceable Kingdom

They will neither harm nor destroy        on all my holy mountain,        for the earth will be full of the knowledge of the LORD        as the waters cover the sea. Isaiah 11:6-9 The Peaceable Kingdom

“This plan, which God will complete when the time is right, is to bring all creation together, everything in heaven and on earth, with Christ as head.” Ephesians 1:10

Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; let the sea resound, and all that is in it; let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them. Then all the trees of the forest will sing for joy; they will sing before the lord, for he comes, he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world in righteousness and the peoples in his truth.   Psalm 96:11-13

All things bright and beautiful, All creatures great and small, All things wise and wonderful: The Lord God made them all.

Through him all things were made. John 1:3
