The Center for Applied Research (CFAR)  Not a technology company in the business of creating IT solutions for colleges and universities  An applied research and evaluation team based out of Charlotte, North Carolina that also creates higher education solutions based on need, particularly for institutional research and effectiveness offices.  Housed at Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC), the Center is one of the first self-sustaining research centers in the nation to be affiliated with a community college and as such is uniquely situated to offer insight into community college issues.  The Center functions as part of the CPCC Services Corporation, a separate 501(c)3 that serves as the entrepreneurial arm of the college.

Our Vision  To make colleges self-sufficient and to build the capacity within institutions to do their own work.  It is our belief that once the colleges have effective processes and tools in place, they will develop a culture of evidence within their institutions that will cause cultural changes in the way they do business.
