A wide range of people from different backgrounds have shaped the culture of Texas. Texas has a very divers and rich culture.

Indian groups still celebrate their culture through dance stories and other art forms. Native Americans where the first to live in Texas. Their drawings paintings and carvings date back to prehistoric times.

The Spanish were the first Europeans to settle in Texas. They brought the roman catholic faith to Texas. Some of their missions still stand today.

Mexicans played a large role in shaping Texas culture. Tejanos brought their traditions and culture here. They also gave the state its cowboy culture.

Anglos first settled in Texas during the 1830’s. they came from Welsh, Scottish, Irish, and British decent. Anglos brought British laws and methods of governing to Texas. They also brought the English language.
