Language points 1.shop v. 买东西，它的名词为商店。 短语 go shopping 购物 2. Use sth. for doing sth. = use sth. to do sth. 使用某物去做某事 I use a knife for cutting apples.= I use a knife to cut apples. 3. spend…on… 在 … 上花费时间或金钱。 on 后面跟名词，如果是动词要用动名词。

spend… (in) doing sth. 花费多长时间做某 事 (in 常省去 ) He spent 5 yuan on the pen. The workers spent ten years building the house. 4. … how to find a new place. 疑问句 + 不 定式， 它是不定式的一种，视作名词词组， 其功用相当于由特殊问词引导的从句。表 示此事将要做，除作宾语外，还可以作主 语，表语等。

Read and understand How to look up a word in a dictionary? 1. When you look up a word in the dictionary, you must pay attention to the first letter of the word.

2. When two words begin with the same letter, you have to look at the second letter to find the word. 3. If both the first and the second letter are the same, look at the third one and so on.

Language points 1. How is everything going these days? 这是写信时开头常用的话，类似的还有： How is everything going? Is everything goes well? How time flies! 2. The words in dictionaries are in alphabetical order. order 在此句中是 “ 顺序 ” 的意思。 in…order 意为 “ 以 … 的顺序 ”

3. look up “ 在（书或资料）等中查找， it/ them 作宾语应放在中间，另外还有 “ 向上看 ” 的意思。 pay attention to 注意， to 是介词，后跟 动词变为动名词。 4. begin with … 或 start with… 意为 “ 以 … 开始 ” The concert began with a piano solo.
