Kazakhstan in IST projects DENEMA - Telematics Application Program, 1997-1999 The mission of this project: creation conditions for establishing and development of direct contacts between healthcare workers in Central Asian countries DENEMA was focused on • Adopting new information technologies in fields of e-learning, telemedicine, electronic commerce through Central Asia Region • Connecting Central Asia Region to World Information Society • Testing and adaptation of the european telematics products in Central Asia • Supplying hottest information about Central Asia telematics market Participants: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan
TeleInVivo in Kazakhstan The aim of this project was to setup a transportable telemedicine workstation for the purposes of remote diagnostics seances via telecommunication channels. Telemedicine Network includes: • Almaty Regional Medical Diagnostic and Consulting Centre • Aral Central Local Hospital (Aral CLH) • Hospital in Coimbra (Portugal) • Telecommunication Centre in Almaty (KATELCO)

Results of the IST experience • Both projects - DENEMA and TeleInvivo were successful • Real experience in the realization of the telemedicine projects • Testing telecommunication ability for telemedicine purpose • Testing ability of the satellite and ground channels • Prerequisites for the development of telemedicine in Central Asia region
