Key enefits

What does OBASHI do? enhances business clarity removes ambiguity from business decision making

How does it do that – 5 key benefits! Provides a standard way of thinking about ICT. Creates the Big picture of how a business works. Helps join the dots of how data flows between your people, process and technology. Acts as a common language and delivery platform for Best Management Practice. Makes ICT easier to understand and communicate across the business.

Provides a standard way of thinking about ICT. The OBASHI methodology is a new way of thinking that enables organizations to see and understand how people, processes and technology are linked. OBASHI is based around six ‘layers’ of business operations. – Ownership (stakeholders) – Business Process – Application – System (Operating Systems) – Hardware – Infrastructure The first two of examine how the business works and then a further four explore the IT assets that support these activities:

Creates the Big picture of how a business works. The OBASHI layers are mapped out in a Business and IT diagram (B&IT) which provides the framework to store information usefully. Elements are placed in these layers that represent the people, process and technology in a business. The B&IT diagram acts as a visual map of how the business works, allowing the business DNA to be mapped out in standard format

Helps join the dots of how data flows between your people, process and technology OBASHI views business resources and IT assets as – providers of data – consumers of data – or the conduit through which the data can flow. This allows you to diagrammatically represent how data flows across the organisation. These are called Data flow Analysis Views (DAVs) DAVs provide another common, intuitive and easily- understood diagram of how data flows between your people, process and technology.

Acts as a common language and delivery platform for Best Management Practice. ITIL – OBASHI underpins the implementation of ITIL processes across the entire service lifecycle. PRINCE2 – OBASHI ensures each stage of the Project Life Cycle is in the right business context, at the right time. MSP – OBASHI helps business leaders define a blueprint of the future state which all key stakeholders can understand and commit to. P3O – OBASHI helps to prioritise change initiatives and their business impact allowing progress to be monitored towards the achievement of strategic objectives.

Makes ICT easier to understand and communicate across the business. B&ITs and DAVs are simple visual tools which put people, process and technology in a business context. OBASHI offers a standard way to communicate across all forms of portfolio, programme and project management OBASHI requires no formal previous training to apply and utilise its principles, which means it can be embraced by non-technical as well as technical staff.
