The overview of Shakespeare’s accomplishments, dreams, and hardships

 Spent his professional life in London.  Buried inside Holy Trinity Church in Stratford.  Believed to have went to Kings New School.

 In 1599 he built a theater for his own company, naming it Globe.  He wrote the tragedies Hamlet, Othello, King Lear, and Macbeth in Globe. He wrote comedies such as TwelfthNight and Measure for Measure in Globe as well.  Shakespeare presented his plays to Queen Elizabeth I and King James I. He also performed them for London’s legal societies.

 Sometime between 1610 and 1613, he moved back to Stratford-upon-Avon.  “During his professional years in London, Shakespeare had presumably derived income from the acting company's profits as well as from his own career as an actor, from the sale of his play manuscripts to the acting company, and, after 1599, from his shares as an owner of the Globe. It was presumably that income, carefully invested in land and other property, which made him the wealthy man that surviving documents show him to have become.”  William Shakespeare died in Stratford on April 23, 1616.

 Shakespeare achieved prominence as both an actor and playwrighter.  In 1593, he became a published poet.  In that same year he wrote “Venus and Adonis” and “The Rape of Lucrece”  Both poems were dedicated to young Earl of Southampton (Henry Wriothesley).  He wrote these narrative poems when theaters were closed because a plague.

 The theaters reopened in 1594, Shakespeare continued his double career.  He was the leading member of Lord Chamberlain’s Men.  His company of actors later named the King’s Men. Shakespeare would be principal actor, dramatist, and shareholder for the rest of his career.  His career spanned about twenty years.  In the 1590’s he wrote his plays on English History, comedies, and tragedies.  Titus and Andronicus/Romeo and Juliet were two of his most famous plays he wrote.

 The idea of translating and printing Greek and Roman classics became born. This paved the way for other parts of the world’s beliefs to come together.  During this time the Europeans discovered the North and South America and the people that lived there, Also their beliefs.  London was becoming very popular and had a population increase. This created poverty and plagues.  London was also home to the rich and aristocratic.

 There were a lot of myths and legends about William. Some legends were about him hunting on Sir Thomas Lucy’s property then running away from him. Other said that he was unable to read but he still had amazing talents.  He was thought to be out of control and energetic.  Some people do not believe that he really wrote these stories.  Although there are hard facts that about his life and what he did to prove that he did.

 Born in April 1564 in Stratford, England.  He married Anne Hathaway.  He had three children:  Susanna  Judith  Hamnet (died at childhood)  Most of his working life was in London.  He professionally established himself in the early 1590’s.  Also enjoyed being an actor and was a shareholder in an acting company.  Between 1610 and 1613, Shakespeare is thought to have retired and returned home to Stratford.  Died in 1616
