Jehoiakim: ( BC) was made king by Pharoahnechoh (who also changed his name from Eliakim) when he was 25 years old. He reigned for 11 years in Jerusalem, doing evil in the sight of the Lord Later, Nebuchadnezzar came up, and Jehoiakim became his servant for 3 years. Then Jehoiakim turned and rebelled against Nebuchadnezzar. - (2 Kings 23:34-37; 2 Kings 24:1-6). 6

 God is NOT indifferent towards sin today – God still judges nations and people!! – Prov 14:34; Acts 13:40,41; 17:26-31  We will reap what we sow – God’s judgment is coming - Gal 6:7-9; Rom 2:6-10 “The Just Shall Live By Faith” 9

 Woe to the proud possessed with the lust of conquest and plunder - Hab 2:5-8  Woe to their efforts to build a permanent empire through cruelty and godless gain - Hab 2:9-11  Woe to those who build cities with bloodshed - Hab 2:12-14  Woe to those with cruelty in their treatment of those they conquered - Hab 2:15-17  Woe to those given over to idolatry - Hab 2:18-20 “The Just Shall Live By Faith” Five woes proclaimed against wicked – (5-20) 11

 God Has Revealed His Word Plainly –(Eph 3:3-5; 2 Tim 3:16,17; 2 Pet 3:15-18)  The Time of God’s Ultimate Judgment Is Coming – (2 Pet 3:10-13; 2 Thes 1:7-10; 2 Cor 5:10)  God resists the Proud – but the just will live by faith – (James 4:6-10; Rom 5:1; Heb 11)  Woe unto those who do not obey the Gospel – (2 Thes 1:7-9) “The Just Shall Live By Faith” 12

 Praise for the Person of God (3:1-3) –(Asking that in His wrath He remember mercy - Praised God as Holy; Glorious; Praiseworthy)  Praise for the Power of God (3:4-7) – (God’s exposing light; His judgment upon the nations; power over the earth)  Praise for the Purpose of God (3:8-16) – (Bringing both judgment to the wicked and salvation to His people )  Humility & Hope Before God (3:16) – (He trembled at what he has heard, that he will have rest in the day of trouble ) “The Just Shall Live By Faith” 13
