Geometry Karate Rules Make sure you have enough room around you. Follow your sensei Only talking is geometry words!

POINT Names an exact location in a space! Named: Point A A Action: Punch the Air!

LINE A line extends without end in opposite directions. Named: Line AB, AB, bA, BA Action: Arms out Straight! A B

Line Segment Segment means part. It is a part of a line named by two end points. Named: Line AB, AB, bA, BA Action: Arms out Straight WITH 2 FIsts A B

Ray Part of a line. Has one endpoint and continues on in one direction. Named: Ray AB, AB Action: Arms out Straight WITH one FIst A B

Parallel Lines Lines in a plane that are always the same distance apart and never intersect Action: forearms form vertical or horizontal lines A B C D

PERPENDICULAR LINES Lines in a plane that intersect to form right angles Action: Arms in a “Plus Sign” A B C D

ANgle Two rays or segments that share an endpoint. Named: Angle CAB, BAC, angle A, <CAB, <BAC Action: Arms Out Straight forming an angle A B C

IMPORTANT! The point that is shared by the two lines is called the vertex! When you name the angle, the vertex is in the middle! A B C

Right Angle Two rays or segments that share an endpoint that is exactly 90 degrees Named: Angle CAB, BAC, angle A, <CAB, <BAC Action: One arm straight up, the other arm out! A B C

Acute Angle Two rays or segments that share an endpoint that is less than 90 degrees Named: Angle CAB, BAC, angle A, <CAB, <BAC Action: Arms Out Straight forming an angle A B C

Obtuse Angle Two rays or segments that share an endpoint that is less than 90 degrees Named: Angle CAB, BAC, angle A, <CAB, <BAC Action: Arms Out Straight forming an angle AB C
