Electrical Maintenance Maintenance: Much more than a “Necessary Evil” Most downtime is NOT inevitable Prevent failures Reduce both cost and time required for repair Take control of your production and profitability

Infrared Imaging Applications Summary Process/Quality Control Research & Development Electrical Maintenance Mechanical Maintenance Line Camera Speeds up to 18,000HZ.

Take Control of your Plant Efficiency! Control process temperatures to improve quality and reduce operating costs Develop and design better products with increased efficiency Prevent electrical and mechanical downtime

Elements of a Process Control System What is the target material? What is the target temperature? Maximum and minimum temps! Is the target moving? At what speed? What is the target size? Is 1-5 frames per second adequate for this application or do they need frames per second?

Elements of a Process Control System What is the perceived emissivity of the target? Are there different emissivity's on the target which need to be accounted for? What accuracy of temperature measurement does the customer require? What does the customer wish to do with the thermal data?

Elements of a Process Control System In what form does the customer need the data? [i.e. digital/analog/4- 20/etc] Does the customer have some other software that needs to interface with our software? What PLC does the customer use?

Elements of a Process Control System Can the process tolerate ANY downtime? How much or little? Is a spare unit required? Do they require alarming if the unit goes down? Is a redundant system required? Do they require/expect operational training on the system and/or software?

Elements of a Process Control System Should you price in commissioning by a technician? [Two day minimum plus expenses] When do they need the system installed and operational?

Elements of a Process Control System How far away from the control room will the camera/s be installed? Do they want to use their own computer/processor? To eliminate problems it is firmly suggested that the vendor supply the processor fully configured and tested!

Elements of a Process Control System How many cameras are necessary for the application? If one target…how much coverage they want will determine the number/s of cameras required! Do they have Ethernet [100/GigE base T] available at the point of camera installation? If not, what do they have? Fiber optics ?

Elements of a Process Control System Does the application require temperature measurement? This will determine if they need a computer with software or merely a video link! Do they really have a need and will the total cost of installation provide a reasonable return on investment? Can this be illustrated/documented to the customer?
