The Map of China

Differences between European and Chinese -Direct and open minded -Easy to say Yes or No -Joking everybody in the public -Children are independent -Speak quilt in the restaurant -Like to travel in detail -Like to show your talent -The boss/no power after job -Number is less important Indirect and a little closed Difficult to say No Joking too, but some limits Less independent Speak loudly and noisy One time to many countries Often modest and shy Still some power after job Very important

What do you have to know? (Taboo) Longer the history and civilization of a country, more Taboos ! You could find them by the action, the language and accent. Need patience to do the business with chinese. A little Chauvinisme, like to say: the most …the most Most of Chinese people are very kind and very friendly, the relationship and the friendship are the most important thing for them.

During the Chinese New Year: Don’t be angry , don’t criticize people and don’t beet children. Don’t ask somebody to return your money. If you break a glass or a plate, don’t worry, you will be calm every year. When the children of your Chinese friend say: Happy new year and Gong xi fa cai to you, it will be your honor to offer them a red envelop.

About your gifts: Never offer a Green Hat to a Chinese. Never offer a Clock to a Chinese What kind of gifts? For man: For woman:

About your first meeting : for a business man or business woman How to say Hello to a Chinese man and a Chinese woman? (the movement of your eyes and body ) How to exchange your name card with a Chinese people? How to show your documents and your gifts to Chinese people? What’s their reaction after receiving your gift ?

About your business dinner If you want to refuse a dating or a dinner of your Chinese friend, please find some good excuse and say :Thank you so much and very sorry about it… On the table of a dinner, don’t put your chopsticks in your bowl. Business topic is often in the meeting room or in the office, less business on the table, nor during the Kara OK or massage, just enjoy your relax time. Need to drink some win with your chinese partner ,more you drink more they are happy, it’s like a test for your personality. Be careful for the Chinese white win! The culture of win is very rich and important in China.

About the topics: Chinese people like to learn and discuss any topic with foreign people: Politics, Economics, history, family, children, news, jokes and etc. But the topic about Taiwan and Tibet is not good for you, because they could discuss this subject with you for a long time without any result, it will cause a bad feeling for your relation, keep your idea in your mind please.

In the beginning, no question about their private life, as: the salary, the age, the telephone number of their family, etc. But if they open this topic first, you could continue with them. Please try to find some topics of good chance, avoid something about the death, accident, illness, catastrophe, fatness , etc. Avoid to talk about the weak points of your Chinese partner
