I had been teaching evening classes at a training school in a town not far from Huzhou before I taught English classes at Huzhou Vocational & Technical College. I decided to teach at the college because I wanted a change of scenery and a normal Monday to Friday work schedule. My colleagues here were kind and easy to work with. If I ever needed help they were always willing to lend a hand. The students are bright and I always enjoyed talking with ones who were enthusiastic about learning English and earning about Western culture. Huzhou is not a large city like Shanghai nor is it a small city like the one where I was living, but it has plenty to do and plenty to see. You can find excellent restaurants and several big malls in the city center. A little farther away you can visit the beautiful Lake Tai and enjoy the scenic views. Huzhou is also not far from big cities like Hangzhou and Shanghai. The high speed train goes through the city as well so traveling is convenient.

During the two years I taught at the college I made good friends, had time to travel, and had an amazing experience overall. I highly recommend teaching at Huzhou Vocational & Technical College for anyone wanting a similar experience. --Ryan Rosebrough
