A VERY BRIEF HISTORY OF THE ORANGE COUNTY SUSTAINABILITY COLLABORATIVE In 2007, a small group of Orange County sustainability leaders from the private sector, local government and academia agreed that a new forum was needed to make sustainability a practical reality in Orange County. Since then, the organization has held its first Leadership Dialogue event at the University of California Irvine, incorporated, and is working to achieve not-for-profit status in In this time, OCSC has also reached out to local businesses, universities, government agencies, communities, and not-for-profit organizations to join forces in achieving a “Greener Orange”. RECRUITING FOR MAJOR PROGRAMS AND PROJECTS A quarterly dialogue (mini-conference) series on sustainability topics important to Orange County’s leaders­ An instructional series on sustainable business principles and practices A sustainability stakeholder mapping and database project Publication of educational primers on sustainability topics Participation in college- and university-level internship programs Development of cooperative sustainability projects with municipal governments Creation of an online sustainability best-practices library, and Obtaining free or low-cost event venue and office spaces to support OCSC programs and activities. RECRUITING FOR THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OCSC is seeking well-qualified candidates to fill three uncompensated volunteer positions for 2- year terms. Further, once the board is fully expanded to seven members, it will select its new chairperson.
