Study Sign-Up Experiment Listings: Read the study description to determine if you are eligible for it. Make note of how many credits each experiment is worth and if it requires you to return to the lab for a second visit. If you see an experiment that you would like to participate in, click on “Timeslots Available” to view available appointment times.

Making an appointment Study Information: Read the description of the study to be sure that you would like to participate. Click on “View Time Slots for This Study” to view available time slots and make your appointment.

Appointment times Appointment Time Slots: Select an appointment time slot that works for you. If there are no time slots that are good for you, check back again in a few days. New time slots are added daily. Click “Sign-Up” to confirm your appointment time. Be sure to write down your appointment day, time, and location, and do not forget!

Your Schedule & Credits Keeping track of your appointments and credits: Click on “My Schedule/Credits” along the top menu bar. Here you can view your upcoming appointments as well as your earned credits.

Cancellations How to cancel a scheduled appointment: If you need to cancel, do so at least 24 hours ahead of time, or you will receive a PENALTY which will deduct 1 subject pool credit from your balance. To cancel, go to “My Schedule/Credits” on the top menu bar. View your list of appointments. Click “cancel” next to the appointment that you wish to cancel.

Penalties All about penalties: If you fail to show up for an experiment for any reason (i.e. you forgot, your dog was sick, you overslept, you didn’t know you made the appointment, etc), you will incur a PENALTY. What is a penalty? This is a negative point applied to your earned credit balance. This will deduct one point from your balance. If you have not earned any points before the penalty is applied, one credit is still deducted and your balance will be negative. A penalty will mean that you need to do more experiments to earn enough credits to satisfy your course requirement.

Earned Credits All about your subject pool credits: When you successfully attend and complete an experiment which you signed up for, you will receive subject pool credit in the amount that was listed for that experiment (typically 1 or 2 credits per experiment). You can view your earned credits on the “My Schedule/Credits” page. All experiments for which you have appointments, as well as those which you have completed, will be listed here. Credits earned per course are listed towards the bottom of the page. Here you can see how many credits you have assigned to each of the psychology courses you are enrolled in.

Assigning Credit to your Course Be sure to assign your credit to a course! The only way for your Professor to know that you have earned subject pool credit is to ASSIGN that credit to the course. When you make the initial appointment, you will be able to indicate which course you would like the credit to go towards. Alternatively, you can “Reassign” that credit on the “My Schedule/Credits” page. Credits that are not assigned to a course will never be made available to your course Instructor. Be sure to assign all credits in order to receive your experiment participation credit.

Other concerns: What if… What if I go to my appointment and nobody is there? If you arrive to the correct room at the appointed time (don’t be late), and the experimenter is not there within 15 minutes, you will earn one credit by default. If this should happen, write to the experimenter and let them know when your appointment was scheduled for and they will look into this for you. How do I get in touch with the experimenter for an appointment that I have? You can look on your schedule and click on the experiment that you are concerned about. There it will list the contact information for the experimenter. What if I have questions and need answers that the experimenter cannot help me with? You can contact: Subject Pool Coordinator: Cindy Zimmerli Psychology B
