GENDER TRAINING Strengths and weaknesses evaluated from individual GBDC projects. This will be shared from both training sessions. Drop box created (and shared with whom?) Gender resources shared (with whom?) Gender audit will be conducted and a checklist shared

GENDER TRAINING Selected comments from trainees: Training helped establish that ‘gender’ is not about women. Until now thought ‘women only’ seating and job allocation was discriminatory – now understand the issues more clearly Now understand why information needs to be sourced from female as well as male household members – male’s are not aware of the aspirations and roles of women.

BRAC – GBDC COLLABORATION The area (quantitative) coverage by GBDC activities with BRAC is modest, but considering the aspects of qualitative growth & sustainability of agro based technology adoption, the initiatives proved as highly positive development actors in rural Bangladesh. BRAC has developed a complete Aquaculture technical team of 20 development workers which was a prime objective of the collaboration between BRAC and World Fish (GBDC & CSISA-BD).

GBDC SUPPORTS TO DEVELOP THE TEAM  Contribution to Staff selection process  Skill development of the team  Basic Technical Training  ToT Training & Refreshers course  Training on Record keeping & Report preparation  Training-Workshop on Gender Equity  Several issue-based workshop / Seminars  Frequent field visit by GBDC/CSISA-BD team.

GBDC SUPPORTS TO DEVELOP THE TEAM  Initiatives to make the team equipped for monitoring & evaluation process  Initiatives to develop the team concerning Gender equity in the community  Training  Workshop & Seminars  Gender balance during selection of beneficiaries  Guidance to select appropriate technology & implementation (something more updated than traditional practices)

GBDC SUPPORTS TO DEVELOP THE TEAM  Effective communication with different development initiatives and also build linkages with the sources of good quality inputs (like quality fry, feed, PCR tested prawn PL & different stakeholders )  Make the team concern about, Ag & water resource mgt., food security and climate change adoption through workshops, training, issue based meetings, campaign, field days etc,  Develop techniques to make linkages among with other BRAC financing bodies to meet-up the aquaculture farmers need.

SUPPORTS PROVIDED BY G5 & CSISA-BD  Stakeholder workshop  Team meeting  Field based adaptive research activities  Beneficiaries training & Refreshers  Participatory adoption Trial (Demonstration)  Linkage Events (Field days)  Farmers exchange (exposure) visits  Provide extension & training material

FUTURE PLAN First two years were for observation, planning, technology adoption and coordination with related stakeholders. Activities were the combination of adaptive research, demonstration and selective expansion. Our Aquaculture team is now a complete technical team and BRAC will go for wider expansion followed by the Experience and findings of this project.
