Activity 5: Intercalibration of the regional water quality laboratories, in conformity with WFD implementation Carmen Hamchevici Dr. Gabriel Chiriac Gabriela Ciocan PP2 – National Administration Romanian Waters

Common sampling campaign Aim of this activity: harmonization of sampling and analytical procedures used by laboratories from Bulgaria and Romania on the common Danubian stretch, in order to make monitoring data highly comparable

Protocol sampling campaign 1 Sampling sections: –Pristol-Novo / Selo (km 834) –Chiciu / Silistra (km 375) Sampling date: –8 June 2015 Investigated matrix: –Water

Protocol sampling campaign 2 Parameters: –30 Sampling procedures: –Cross sections (left, middle, right) sampled –In-situ measurements (w.t., DO, Cond., pH) –Sampling according to the internal Standard Operational Procedures of the involved laboratories (prepared based on standardised methods and recognised by the accreditation process) –Sampling operations will be carried out in parallel by both teams –Sampling Reports will be filled in by each team according to their own specific templates

Laboratories and Analytical methods and performances Laboratories: –Analysis carried out by each part –3 RO accredited laboratories (SR EN ISO/CEI 17025:2005) of National Administration ”Romanian Waters” Analytical methods and performances: –All involved laboratories will use standardised and/or validated analytical methods –Compliance of the LOQs with the criteria specified in the D 2009/90/EC: uncertainty of measurement of 50 % or below (k= 2) estimated at the level of relevant environmental quality standards (EQS) and LOQ equal or below a value of 30 % of the relevant environmental quality standards: LOQ = 3.3)

Reporting Excel template for reporting is used (attached is RO proposal) Analytical results will be shared between parts, in electronic format Deadline for data reporting: 26 June 2015
