Grade viii Subject: Math & Statistics

 People cannot make decision. We all hesitate to make decision. You cannot take decisions in assumptions. You need data or information as a basis to take important decisions. That is why I have decided to do a project and help students become good decision makers and confident about their decisions. In this project students will assume role of policy makers and take important decisions for their country to help improve situation. They collect data from different sources and organize the data to information. Use different graphs to display data. They will commend suggestion for change in future to policy makers in important matters / problems facing Pakistan today.

 This unit involves concept of frequency, graphs, central tendency, arithmetic mean, mode and median with the help of common examples. The concept is made clear with graphs.

 At the end of this project my students will be able to  Learn about frequency, graph, central tendency, arithmetic mean, mode, median etc  Collect data and organize it to information using excel  Develop skills for group work as a team  Generate discussions and express views on collected data and information  Draw and label graph on collected data  Interpret a graph for new analysis and from the perspective of making a decision  Take a decision on an important issue or policy for which they have collected information and act as stakeholders  Justify why they have taken that decision and how it might help our country to improve  Make a persuasive presentation for policy makers, showing data, information, present situation, their decision and recommendation to improve present situation for a better Pakistan tomorrow.

Essential Question  What can we do to bring change in our country?

Unit Question  How data can help us to make important decisions that will help us to strive for better tomorrow? Curriculum Framing Questions

Content Questions:-  What is data?  What is information?  What are different types of graphs?  What is difference between group and un grouped data?  What is mean, median and mode? Curriculum Framing Questions
