Using Energy Efficiency to Increase Your Bottom Line Michael LiPetri Program Manager PSEG LI Energy Efficiency and Renewables

PSEG LI : January 1, 2014 PSEG LI

PSEG Corporate Information Public Service Enterprise Group (PSEG) owns and operates New Jersey’s oldest and largest electric and gas utility (PSE&G). PSE&G is a 110 year old energy company with a commitment to and track record of providing the most reliable electricity and gas service to its 2.2 million customers in New Jersey. PSEG Overall: $29B in assets; almost 12,000 employees; 13,000 MW of electric generation; renewable energy subsidiaries

PSEG Long Island - Your New Service Provider On January 1, 2014, PSEG Long Island became the electric utility for the 1.1 million customers on Long Island and the Rockaways. PSEGLI has the authority for: Day-to-day operations Budgeting System maintenance and Operation Storm preparedness and response Infrastructure improvements Energy Efficiency and Renewable programs

2014 PSEG LI Energy Efficiency Programs Reduce on peak electric usage Defer the cost of building new power plants Help save money Help Business Grow

Fundamental goal to provide the lowest cost solution to our customers. Energy efficiency produces round-the-clock load reduction, and demand response results in peak load reduction Development costs are generally high on Long Island, and resources require location-specific electric and gas interconnection costs that can be significant Energy efficiency has proven to be the lowest cost resource, with limited price volatility Cost of Achieved National Energy Efficiency vs. Supply Options Source: ACEEE and Lazard, 2013 The levelized cost of electricity (LCOE) represents the per kWh cost of building and operating a generating plant or other energy resource over an assumed financial life of the investment; LCOE should represent the price a new energy resource needs in the market to be financially viable. Critical assumptions in the Lazard analysis are based on national averages, and generally costs are higher on Long Island than nationwide. Includes 30% Federal Investment Tax Credit for solar PV.

2014 Commercial Efficiency Programs PSEG Long Island’s Commercial Efficiency Programs (CEP) provide rebates, incentives and assistance to help Long Island businesses, schools, and municipal agencies improve their energy efficiency, reduce operating costs and improve their bottom line. Commercial Efficiency Rebate Program Energy Assessment Program Technical Assistance Program Small Business Direct Install Program

2014 Commercial Efficiency Program Commercial Rebates are available for all businesses, schools, and municipal agencies for both existing facilities and for new construction Rebates are available for the following measures: HVAC (Heating, Ventilating & Air Conditioning) Lighting (including fluorescent lighting , LED lighting, motion, daylight, and occupancy sensors, LED Exit Signs) Chillers Compressors & Air Dryers Cool Roof Kitchen Equipment & Vending Machines Refrigeration Equipment Variable Frequency Drives Custom rebates can be calculated for any measure that saves energy, even if not listed here

2014 Commercial Efficiency Rebate Program Replace old, inefficient T12 Fixtures Use efficient HP T8 or T5 fluorescent fixtures Replace with the MOST energy efficient LED fixtures Lighting controls Daylight sensors Dimming ballasts Occupancy sensors LED High-Bay Lighting (Warehouse, Auto Repair Shop) Change old inefficient HVAC units

Fluorescent T12 Metal Halide

2 x 4 Fluorescent Fixture

LED Lighting

Energy Efficient Lighting Solution This is a typical example of a 10,000 square foot office space. The existing lighting is more than 5 years old. Existing fixtures are 2 lamp 4’ 40 Watt T12 fixtures with magnetic ballasts Original fixtures will be completely replaced with new 2' x 4' LED fixtures The fixtures selected for this application are recessed and have a wide distribution to enhance the brightness of vertical surfaces. They are most appropriate for spaces with low ceilings and high partitions. They are spaced 8' by 10' on center Same layout as Option A, except some of these fixtures contain a fixture mounted daylight sensor that controls a series of fixtures around the perimeter of the space.

2014 Commercial Efficiency Program Rebate Guidelines Pre-Inspections, Pre-Approvals and Post-Inspections are REQUIRED FOR ALL PROJECTS Eligible lighting products must be listed on one of the following industry resources: Consortium for Energy Efficiency (T8) www.cee1.org Energy Star (LED) www.energystar.gov Design Lights Consortium (LED) www.designlights.org

Energy Assessment Program PSEG Long Island provides services for facilities to assess their current and future energy demands and analyze energy conservations measures – free of charge to customers. Energy Assessment An assessment consists of informative walkthrough of an existing facility where existing data is collected on HVAC, Lighting, Roofing, and power equipment. The report will suggest recommendations based on upgrading current energy related equipment to more efficient and energy saving measures. Open_LeadPartner_DaysInInstall_110513

Technical Assistance Program (TA Rebates) LEED Certification and Points Customer Rebate after proof of LEED certification includes: 70% of Energy Modeling costs ($50,000 Maximum) 70% Electric Related Commissioning ($100,000 Maximum) $500 per qualified LEED point ($12,500 Maximum) Energy Engineering Study Customer Rebates are tiered($50,000 Maximum) Initial Rebate – 25% upon study completion ($12,500 Maximum) Balance up to 70% ($50,000 Maximum) Must complete CEP project within a 12 month timeframe, and yield a savings of 5% or more of annual billed electric consumption or demand. Energy Star Labeled Buildings Customer Rebate are tiered($5,000 Maximum) Initial Rebate – 50% upon Study completion ($2,500 Maximum) Balance up to 100% ($5,000 Maximum) Must commit to complete CEP project within a 12 month timeframe, and yield a savings of 5% or more of annual billed electric consumption or demand.
